Dominique Jordan, president of FIP, passed away last weekend and, in accordance with the organisation’s Statutes, has seen Australian president-elect Paul Sinclair (pictured) perform the duties of president as of today (PD Breaking News yesterday). “Dominique was a leader of our profession at a local, national and international level for many years,” shared Sinclair. “His commitment to pharmacy was never more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic when he championed an expanded hands-on role of pharmacists when many primary healthcare professionals went to virtual models. “His leadership of FIP has seen our federation grow stronger, more resilient and become more member-focused. “Dominique was a passionate pharmacist, a strong, considered leader and a good friend to all,” said Sinclair. A Swiss community pharmacist, Jordan became a member of FIP 20 years ago. In his home country, his actions to advance pharmacy included roles as president and CEO, concurrently, of pharmaSuisse, the Swiss association of pharmacists. Jordan was elected president of FIP in 2018. Before that, he served FIP and global pharmacy as chair of the Board of Pharmaceutical Practice (2014-2018). PSA National President Dr Fei Sim paid tribute to Jordan. “Despite his ongoing battle with cancer, Dominique always captured tenacity and positivity in life,” Sim said. “Dominique has worked tirelessly and given much of his life to professional pharmacy both in Australia and internationally and leaves a huge legacy to the profession. “He will be greatly missed. “On behalf of Australian pharmacists, PSA offers our deepest condolences to Jordan’s friends, family, and colleagues.” The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia expressed its deep condolences with President Tom Simpson saying, “Dominique is a pharmacy great”. “He led with genuine passion and a commitment to seeing the profession thrive across all borders despite the many obstacles it faced, particularly over the last few years. “He has paved the way for global pharmaceutical reform which will only lead to better health outcomes for patients through improved pharmacy care,” shared Simpson.
